Road Trip!

Thats right! Road Trip! I left my wings at home and Nick and I headed to Colorado in the man van. It was an awesome tri trip! I havent gotten to see Nick race a lot this summer and was pretty much counting down the days to this weekends trip! Some friends of ours, Shawnie and Austin Jenkins, came up from Denver to cheer Nick on which made it even more fun!! Nick raced amazingly and it was so fun to watch!! He took 11th out of the pros and 2nd out of the amateurs!! He had a great race.

So... you girls that have watched the bachelor since season 1 might recognize the guy in this next pic! Its Ryan Sutter from season 2!!! He married Trista!! Anyhow my friend (Debbie) was racing and saw him in the water before the race. Luckily she got my attention so we could snap a pic!! (No we are not stalkers but we do LOVE Xterras!) I would also like to point out that Ryan and Trista are living proof that the Bachelor is real and they do find love... SO Nick leave me alone.

I got to run my first 10k while in Colorado this weekend too!! I wont lie- I totally surprised myself! It was a very hard race - 1300 ft vertical climb and it was hard to breath due to the altitude! I took 1st in my age group and 4th overall!!! Like I said- VERY SURPRISED! This pic sums up my feelings on the climbs....

This weekend I was on call for work so I had to stay home and couldn't follow nick on his journey down south so I started my very first garden!! Hopefully something grows!!! Either way we had lots of fun planting it! Thanks mom and Harley for your assistance!

Holidays- Baptism By Fire!

When Nick first spent Christmas with my family it was kind of an eye opener. A 16 year old, an 18 year old, and a 21 year old all acting like we were 4 and still believing. Nick's belief in Santa was revived and now he too waits at the bottom of the stairs on Christmas morning (early Christmas morning) with my sister and I waiting for my brother to wake up my parents so we can all go out and see what Santa brought us.

Easter in the McGonegal household is no different. Easter egg hunts are taken seriously. Very seriously. Even though he thinks that we get a bit out of hand (tackling each other to get the last egg), Nick's not shy and that competitive side comes out with the rest of us and he joins the hunt.

This commercial played a couple of days ago and Nick started laughing - "Thats how it is at your house every year!"

Nick traveled down to Las Vegas last weekend to compete in his first triathlon of the season! Great way to start the season- he took 1st in the amateur division and 16th overall among the pros! This means that he has already qualified for 2011 World Championship in Maui!!! SO EXCITED!!!

This past month has been different. My new job has been quite the life adjustment. I REALLY enjoy it and it has many perks which I love (free world traveling)! But me being gone 4 days a week has taken its time to get used to. It definitely makes you appreciate the time you do have to spend together when you don't have as much.

Nick has done his fair share of traveling this month also. While I was freezing waiting for a shuttle in Calgary, Canada, while it snowed, Nick was surfing and snorkeling in Maui. He and his parents made a week long trip out of a race weekend (which I was supposed to attend but being the new guy on the block at work did not permit.) He had an awesome trip and took lots of pics. (Maybe if we're lucky I can get him to post some.) He didnt have the best race that he had hoped for but he has already put it on the list of races for next year and I WILL be there!! And you are all invited- it is going to be a party!!

This last weekend Nick and Josh Mortensen went down to St. George to race in a 24 hour race! They each raced a total of 166 miles!! Crazy! They took first place in the two man team and have sworn to never do a 24hour race again. (Thats what they said last time... some things are just addicting.)

As you can see between my mulitple adventures to Canada and a trip to DC and Nicks huge season ending trips we have spent very little time together this month. So now we have both planned to take 5 days off to go somewhere together.... now its just where?? Anyone have a good suggestion for a long weekend trip?

Summer Adventures of Lynnsey

I broke the record for the fastest preflight given by a trainee. Love those fast talking genes!!

It's been a long time!! One of these days I will become a consistant blogger but until then I will write a lot once or twice a year! :)

So this summer has been a big one!! About 6 months before finishing school I began looking for "real" jobs (or ones that allowed me to use my degree) and found nothing that actually involved money. Then I started looking for jobs that would be fun and the first thing that came to mind was a flight attendant. I applied to the only company hiring and to my surprise was invited to interview about two weeks later. After a very crazy hiring process and 24 days of the most grueling training of my life (I would take a college semester over before repeating those 24 days at Barbie Boot Camp), I am now a flight attendant!! I am so excited about this! Not only is it an exciting career but it also gives Nick and I the chance to travel a lot! I have already made a ton of friends in the industry and am sure I will make tons more!!

Retro Day

So this weekend was the annual snowbasin retro day!! Of course marshall and I could not miss out on this!! Next year Nick says he will join us.

Marshall got so into this.... he refused to ski normal, he had to ski 'old school' all day!! Great day of skiing.

DRUNK DRIVER SCARE

On Friday night Nick and I were driving home from the Dashboard concert in Ogden when a drunk driver ran a stop sign and hit us. It caused us to spin 180 degrees and then flip upside down and then spin another 180 degrees. This was probably the scariest happening of my life. Nick was wearing his seat belt but I was not. I ended up laying in the fetal position on the ceiling of the Xterra. I got put in an ambulance and brought to the hospital to check out my neck and back. I checked out of the hospital with whiplash and bruises. Nick and I both walked away with bruises and scratches- thankfully that was all. Nick and I both are very greatful that we are ok. The drunk driver tried to run from the scene by foot but the cops caught him. Nick's second love has gone to car heaven and we will miss it.

As for new years resolutions I am still trying to decide what they will be. Nick said mine should be keeping the bathroom clean....... nah.

Seaside Oregon

Little Ella!! Our new niece!! So cute.

Me, Nick, and his family all went up to the Oregon Coast at the beginning of the month to see our new little niece and to just get away!! We had so much fun! The Oregon coast is beautiful and I am so jealous of Blake and Kristin for living there!!

Big 21!!

Yep I am officially 21!! I can now come out of the closet about my alcoholism and do it legally!! Me, Nick, and my family (minus Kas) went bike riding up at Basin for my birthday. It was so much fun!! Marshall found that biking is his new love (second to skiing and only if he can take the lift to the top) and Mom found out she needs a full suspension! I know you will be in pain for a few days but thanks for coming mom!

XTERRA 2009!

Nick did awesome!! He was in 1st place with a 4 minute lead and aiming for a new course record until the very last quarter mile of the run. The volunteers weren't ready for him to come in so he ended up running straight where he was suppose to turn down to the finish. Since he had such an enormous lead he still was able to make it back and take 3rd!!

Next year he will have it for sure!! Watch out fellow Xterra athletes!!

As for me- I ran my 3 miles for my team. All I can say is next year I just might train... imagine that!

Labor Day Craziness

Over Labor Day weekend Nick, my parents, little brother, and I all went to Snake River to camp and do some wakeboarding. On our way up to the river my dad's truck broke down. We ended up having to stay the night in Burley, ID. The next day my dad was still set on the idea of having a family camping trip so he asked the hill billy friends he made the night before to pull our boat the extra hour to the river. We all piled into the back of this cigarette smoke smelling tahoe and rode with our new friends to the river. Many of you who know my dad are probably not surprised by this story at all because this is very much his character to do.

.....once we got there we had a lot of fun. Thanks dad for making sure we got there.

NICKS NEW LOVE

Nick got into mtn biking this summer and has found that he has more talent then he knew. He did 2 mtb races this summer and did awesome at both. His very first mtn bik race (mtn ogden 50K) he raced in the pro division and took 8th. He also raced in the 12hrs of Sundance with Josh Mortensen and their duo team took 2nd in their division and 3rd overall! I am so proud of him!!! He is racing in the Ogden Valley Exterra this weekend and I know he will do well!!

We finished moving finally! I do miss my old home but me and Nick are having fun making our new house 'home'. The gardening I enjoy... the painting- not so much. Harley is loving having a yard. (As teeny as it is) He wants back out every other minute.
